State ministers review COVID-19 preparedness after number of cases spikes in Kurnool.
TIRUPATI: With more fresh COVID-19 positive cases being reported across Kurnool district with every passing day, state health minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas and finance minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy reviewed the measures taken by the district administration to effectively tackle the global pandemic, on Monday.
While 56 COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Kurnool district as on Sunday, 18 fresh cases were registered on Monday, taking the total number of positive coronavirus cases in the district to 74.
As Kurnool district emerged as the hot spot for COVID-19 with most number of positive cases being reported in the last 48 hours, state ministers Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas, Buggana Rajendranath Reddy, labour minister G Jayaram, huddled into a review meet with the district administration at Kurnool on Monday.
Elaborating on the measures taken by the state government to prevent the further outbreak of the novel coronavirus in Kurnool district, state health minister said that besides establishing two dedicated COVID-19 hospitals to treat the coronavirus infected patients, the state government has set up 15 quarantine centres to isolate patients with suspected symptoms.
"At Santhiram COVID-19 hospital, we have put in place 800 non ICU beds and 50 ventilator supporting beds. At Viswabharathi COVID hospital, there are 275 non ICU beds and 10 ventilator supporting beds. We are in the process of establishing a 200 bedded critical care centre at the Kurnool GGH," asserted the health minister.
The state government under the leadership of YS Jaganmohan Reddy is taking every single step to ensure the people of the state do not fall prey to the novel coronavirus.
"Despite our sincere efforts, Kurnool district is witnessing a spike in the COVID-19 cases in the last two days. But, we are confident that we will provide the best of treatment to all COVID-19 patients in the district, besides taking all necessary precautionary measures to prevent the further outbreak of the novel virus," asserted Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas.
