Gurugram Police register two FIRs against people linked to Tablighi Jamaat for hiding information

GURUGRAM: The Gurugram Police registered a case against the second Tablighi Jamaat patient (a Pataudi resident) from Gurugram who has tested positive, for hiding information. Around 22 people from Gurugram had attended Nizamuddin congregation out of these two – one from Pataudi and another from Devilal Colony have been found Covid-19 positive so far.
Earlier police had booked the Devilal Colony resident. Now Pataudi resident was also booked for hiding information. With this FIR registered against people linked to TJ has increased to two.
According to police earlier a case was registered at sector 9 police station against a 38-year-old man who attended the Tablighi Jamaat in Nizamuddin in March and tested positive for Covid-19 last week for concealing details about his participation in the event. Second FIR was registered at Pataudi police station against a 27-year-old man, resident of ward no. 14, Pataudi, who was present at the religious meeting on March 18. He tested positive on Saturday.
The cases were registered under section 188, 269 and 270 for unlawful or negligent act likely to spread infection of any disease dangerous to life. The punishment may be up to six months or a fine, or both. The FIR states that the accused had attended the TJ event and they knew that members from Tablighi Jamaat had contracted the disease. Even after returning to Gurugram they did not inform the authorities about their participation in the event and possible infection.
“So far we have registered two FIRs against the people linked to Tablighi Jamaat, police is trying to track and identify more people, if there is any,” said commissioner of police Mohammad Akil adding that they are using human intelligence and technical intelligence to track the people who had attended the TJ event and those who had come in contact with them.
Police commissioner said around 10 family members of Devilal Colony resident and four family members of Pataudi residents are put under quarantine. Doctors have collected their samples and waiting for the result.
