SURAT: The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has asked all the banks to ensure that their ATMs are being sanitized as hundreds of people use them to withdraw cash, making them a dangerous zone to spread Covid-19.
“We have warned the banks that if they fail to sanitize their ATMS, they can be fined up to Rs 1 lakh under Epidemic Disease Act-1897,” said an SMC official.
“ATMs can become carriers for the spread of Covid-19. They have to be kept sanitized at any cost,” added the official.
