Lockdown\, week 3: New week unravels a new virus hotspot

Mumbai's Wockhardt Hospital has been declared a containment zone after several staff tested positive. Wockhardt's Chairman said the infection spread from the non-Covid section of the hospital.

In other news, the Cabinet reduced salaries of MPs by 30% for a year today and suspended MPLAD funds for 2 years.

Meanwhile, on lifting the lockdown, ICMR said that it would depend on the doubling rate of infections this week and also identification of new hotspots. India is not yet in the community transmission stage, it said, even as 693 new cases were reported on Sunday alone.

Elsewhere, Americans braced for the 'hardest and saddest'week of their lives with tragedies similar to the 9/11 attacks and the Pearl Harbour bombing as Covid death toll approached the 10,000-mark.
