No rent from students, poor in Panchkula

PANCHKULA: Panchkula municipal corporation (MC) commissioner Sumedha Kataria issued orders to not charge rent from students and labourers living in Panchkula. Any person found taking rent will be punished as per the law.
Kataria said, "To deal with the situation and for effective implementation of the lockdown and mitigate the hardship of migrant workers and students living in rented accommodation, landlords should not charge rent for a period of one month."
"Till now, no such complaint has come to us. If any landlord will be found forcing labourers and students to vacate their premises, they will be liable for action under Section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code," she said. If any person, labourer, student or tenant faces any problem, they can then submit complaint to the municipal corporation helpline number 1800-180-2013 as well as to the district administration office'.
The Haryana government has made adequate arrangements of temporary and permanent shelters and provision of food for the poor, including migrant labourers, for a minimum period of 14 days as per the standard health protocol.
