Punjab: Postman to ring with cash at doorstep

Chandigarh: The Punjab post office circle will home deliver cash during Covid-19 lockdown. Customers can call a helpline to place a maximum order of Rs 10,000 and a minimum of Rs 100.
The Chandigarh postal division's 52 payment bank access points also support the facility. Circle senior superintendent Manoj Kumar said: "People need not go out to the bank or the ATM. They can use AEPS (Aadhaar-enabled payment system) to withdraw upto Rs 10,000 in one go sitting at home. They need to first link their accounts with Aadhaar."
The helpline numbers are 0172-2711765 or 2703325 for customer care, 0172-2722495 for officer supervisor, and 9417111654 for IPPB branch manager. Customers will require mobile phone for OTP (one-time password) validation. The payment is based on biometric authentication.
Customers can contact the nearest post office or the area postman. The post office has also shared the details with the Chandigarh administration.
The city has given mobile phones to its 112 postmen and gramin dak sewaks to run doorstep banking. Postman Jatinder Singh home delivered pension and cash using Aadhaar-enabled payment system (AEPS) in Sector 19, Chandigarh, on Saturday.
