Six more test positive for Covid-19 in Noida, three linked to Tablighi Jamaat infected in Ghaziabad

NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: Six more in Noida tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday, two of whom are family members of a Cease Fire employee who had tested negative. With this, the number of cases in Noida is 54 and those linked to the firm 32. In Ghaziabad, three more tested positive on Friday, all of whom had attended the Tablighi Jamaat in Delhi last month. The district has 13 cases now, of which four go back to the congregation.
“The Cease Fire employee, who lives in Sector 93B, had tested negative but reports of his family members came in today. His wife, 55, and son, 25, appear to be transient carriers of the virus and have been moved to Child PGI,” said Dr Sunil Dohare, additional chief medical officer of Gautam Budh Nagar.
The society they live in has been sealed for 48 hours from Friday 5pm to Sunday 5pm. “They were already under home quarantine and have now been moved to an isolation ward. Lockdown orders have been issued by incident commander, the subdivisional magistrate of Dadri,” said district magistrate Suhas LY. With this, the Child PGI Hospital has 30 patients. “Of them, 20 are positive cases and reports of 10 are awaited,” said Dr DK Singh, chief medical superintendent of the hospital.
Four more Covid-19 positive cases were confirmed late on Friday night. All four patients were residents of a slum close to Sector 5. The source was not clear till the time of filing this report. The administration sealed the area for 48 hours as well — from 10pm on Friday to 10pm on Sunday.
In Ghaziabad, the three who tested positive on Friday are residents of Masuri. They had been in isolation at the District Combined Hospital and were moved to MMG District Hospital after their reports came in. The health department is now tracing those who had come in contact with them. Areas within a 3-km radius of where the three and the one who tested positive on Thursday live have been sealed and will be sanitised.
Five people who had attended the Jamaat had been admitted to the Combined Hospital on Tuesday. Reports of two are yet to come back. A district health official said 182 Tablighi Jamaat attendees and their close contacts are under observation in Ghaziabad.
Ghaziabad chief medical officer NK Gupta said 41 test reports came in negative on Friday.
