GURUGRAM: Police are trying to establish the chain of contact of a resident who attended the
Tablighi Jamaat congregation at
Nizamuddin last month and has tested positive for
Covid-19.
The man lives in Devilal Colony with his wife and seven children. They have rented out the upper floors of the house to three families. Samples have now been collected from all of them and they have been quarantined.
Police, however, said the family may have come in contact with hundreds of other people during the past week, and efforts are on to trace them.
So far, cops have identified 22 people who participated in the religious meet. “We have formed teams at police stations and they are trying to track those people,” said police commissioner Mohammad Akil. Sources said cops are taking the help of mobile locations and feedback from neighbours to trace them.
Some mosques in the city, meanwhile, have put up posters urging people to offer regular and Friday namaz at home. “Mosques and temples are closed since the
lockdown started. Now, the mosques have pasted a notice as well,” said Sadar police station SHO Naveen Kumar.
