82 FIRs, 72 arrested; 4,857 challans worth lakhs in 3 districts of Ambala division for violating lockdown norms

AMBALA: Acting strictly against those residents found violating the lockdown norms, the Haryana Police in three districts of Ambala Division including Ambala, Kurukshetra, and Yamunanagar, registered a total of 68 First Information Reports (FIRs) and arrested 54 accused in these cases up to Saturday, told the police.
Ambala superintendent of police (SP) Abhishek Jorwal told, “Since the imposition of the lockdown and up to Saturday, the district police has registered 35 FIRs, and arrested 11 accused for violating the norms. Moreover, the police also issued 1,738 challans worth Rs 36.85 lakh and impounded 169 vehicles for violation of lockdown norms in Ambala district.”
SP Jorwal said, “We are regularly appealing the general public through all available communication channels to stay at their homes during the lockdown period and if anybody is found taking the law in their hands, we are acting strictly against them.”
Similarly in Kurukshetra, SP Astha Modi told, “Up to Saturday, the police registered 33 FIRs and arrested 43 accused for violating lockdown norms. Moreover, 64 vehicles have been impounded and 2,236 challans have been issued to the violators worth lakhs.”
Yamunanagar SP Himanshu Garg told, “Up to Friday, the police registered 14 FIRs and arrested 18 accused who violated lockdown in Yamunanagar district. Moreover, 198 vehicles have been impounded and 883 challans worth around Rs 26.40 lakh have been issued to the violators.”
