Wipro uses video conferencing for hiring; prohibits group meetings of over 10 people

BENGALURU: Wipro has advised its employees to work from home wherever feasible and if their role allows them to do so. This is effective Monday.
“At Wipro, the safety, health and wellbeing of our employees is of paramount importance and over the past several weeks we have taken a series of preventive measures to protect our employees from the coronavirus outbreak," it said.

All support and non-billable employees (including those who’re not engaged in any projects) have been advised to work from home after consulting their managers.
“All travel has been put on hold with immediate effect. This doesn’t not apply to employees who are scheduled to return to their base location due to regulatory requirements (visa),” the company said in an email advisory sent to select employees. The communication appears to be customised for every business unit.

Wipro will leverage video-conferencing to hire prospective candidates. “Face-to face meetings with potential candidates must not be scheduled until further notice,” said an email advisory. It has also prohibited group meetings of over 10 people at any of its offices. Wipro has over 1.75 lakh employees and nearly 40,000 are outside India.
