Motorcyclist hit from behind, falls in canal

LUDHIANA: A motorcyclist fell in the Kaind canal in Dehlon, when an unidentified speeding vehicle hit him from behind on the bridge over the canal near Gurdwara Falahi Sahib. While the accused escaped from there, onlookers rescued the biker. The victim has been identified as Harpreet Singh (27) of Paddi village, a sanitary worker. He received injuries on his head and eyes, and is admitted in civil hospital here.
Harpreet’s brother Ranbir said the victim was going for his work around 9.30am, when the incident happened. Some unidentified person called him from his brother’s mobile, informing him about the accident. Then, onlookers took him to Dehlon civil hospital, from where doctors referred him to Ludhiana civil hospital.
Ranbir added that on reaching the hospital, his brother told him an unidentified vehicle had hit him from behind, following which he fell in the canal, along with his motorbike. There is an eatery near the bridge, and its workers raised an alarm, so people rescued Harpreet. Ranbir added that his brother was undergoing treatment, and he was yet to give a complaint to the police.
