The Modern Art Gallery hosted a week long art exhibition for women artists on the occasion of International Women’s Day recently. The national level exhibition, known as Art Era, concluded on Saturday in which as many as 45 women artists had taken part.
As per the organisers, the event was a national exhibition, presentation and demonstration by women artists from across the country. Social activist namrata Chadha, eminent writers Gourahari Das and Iti Samant had inaugurated the event on the occasion of women’s day while social activist Subhashree Das, former bureaucrat Suresh Chandra Mantri and eminent litterateur Dash Benhur were part of the valedictory ceremony. On the concluding day, the artists were felicitated for their spectacular and finest pieces of art works. The guests praised the efforts of the gallery for hosting such an art exhibition. “There were 18 out of 45 artists from outside Odisha. All the artists showcased their uniqueness through the art and the artworks depicted a variety of subjects related women,” said TarakantParida of the gallery.
