BHUBANESWAR: Odisha police have decided to register FIR against those, whose negligence is likely to spread the coronavirus in the state. The decision came hours after the government confirmed the state’s first novel coronavirus positive case in Bhubaneswar on Monday.

"We will initiate legal action against those people whose negligent, malignant act and irresponsibility would spread the coronavirus," a senior police officer told TOI. Police are likely to impose sections 269(negligent act likely to spread infection of disease and dangerous to life) and 270 of IPC (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease).
The state police headquarters is likely to issue an advisory, urging people, especially suspected and corona-affected persons to behave responsibly. "We heard that the person, who was detected with Covid-19 at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, travelled by train from Delhi to Bhubaneswar a few days ago. He should have acted responsibly and avoided public contact in trains," the officer said.
