Toddler falls from 2nd floor balcony, dies

Nagpur: A two-and-a-half-year-old girl fell to death from balcony of her second-floor residence in Saket Nagar in Beltarodi in the city on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Unika Turale.
According to police, Unika’s mother was feeding her in the balcony. After a while her mother went to kitchen to bring food leaving the toddler alone. Unika stood up holding a small pipe near the parapet wall and climbed on it. She lost balance and fell to the ground.
The incident was spotted by neighbours who raised alarm and Unika’s family members rushed out. The girl was rushed to a private hospital where she was declared brought dead.
Cops said the toddler managed to climb on the parapet wall because of iron pipes at its bottom.
Beltarodi police have registered a case of accidental death following information from the hospital.
