KARNAL: Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said
Haryana is the second-largest producer of milk in India. He said
Punjab leads in per capita availability, followed by Haryana. The state has set the target to 1,130g per capita availability of milk in the coming years. To achieve this, the state government is providing sex-sorted semen to farmers for Rs 200 per dose instead of Rs 450 from April 1.
Addressing the farmers on the second day of the 37th state-level livestock
exhibition organised by the animal husbandry and dairying department at
National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) in
Karnal, Khattar urged the farmers to adopt natural farming.
He said the 37th livestock exhibition was organised with the objective of making Haryana the best state in milk production. Khattar started the ramp walk competition by camel riding and also visited the fair.
State ready to deal with for Covid-19, says CM Replying to a question about the mass gathering in the livestock exhibition, as the government has declared Covid-19 an epidemic, Khattar said, "All protective measures have been followed in the three- day exhibition. This state-level programme was already scheduled. But all the forthcoming events have been cancelled until the next orders."
Khattar assured that Haryana is ready to handle the pandemic. "Special isolation wards have been set up in all the hospitals to tackle any eventuality that may arise due to coronavirus. The passengers coming from abroad, even if they are not infected, will be quarantined for 14 days, as a precaution," added the chief minister.
