PANCHKULA: A woman resident of the city has been duped of Rs 12 lakh on the pretext of transferring ground floor of a unisex salon in her name.
According to a police complaint, Saroj Gupta, a resident of Haripur village in Sector 4, who works at a private boutique in Sector 21, has alleged that Mohammad Hasib, Mohammad Toshib, Shabana and Ali Mohammad, all residents of Shiv Nagar, Peer Muchalla and owners of Arzoo Unisex Salon in Sector 21, committed fraud with her.
Gupta alleged the accused pretended that they were in need of money and wants to sell ground floor of their salon. As she expressed interest in the property, the accused told them that they would sell the ground floor and also clear the loan going on the property before registration takes place.
Convinced, she gave them Rs 12 lakh in seven instalments between January 2019 and March 2019, but they did not signed a single paper of property.
Later, when she asked her money back, they allegedly declined to return. When she made an inquiry, she came to know that the accused have also duped another woman of Derabassi of Rs 37.50 lakh in the name of selling first and second floors of the house.
Based on her complaint, the cops registered a case under and initiated an investigation into the matter, said investigation officer SI Pawan Kumar.
