NOIDA: To keep outbreak of
coronavirus in check, Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration has sought help of residents. Launching an
email service on Sunday, the administration asked residents to come forward and share details of steps they are taking to contain the spread of the disease in their neighbourhood.
The idea is to gather information of individuals who have unknowingly come in contact with active carriers of the virus. The email dmgbncorona@gmail.com would be monitored by Prasoon Dwivedi, sub-divisional magistrate of Sadar area.
Dwivedi said, “Individuals and families can share any kind of information or apprehensions about coronavirus over the said email. In case the information seems sensitive, the surveillance team created under chief medical officer would be rushed to the site for further action.”
The administration decided to mount surveillance, since a lot of individuals who are suffering from cough, cold and fever for a prolonged period are not coming out to report the symptoms. Residents have also been encouraged to report the drives they are carrying out on a voluntarily basis within their colony or society compound so that allocation of resources could be planned accordingly.
More on Covid-19“The Agra episode was discussed in detail in a meeting held on Saturday the collectorate. Infected people have visited the city from Delhi and came in contact with others. It would be difficult to identify and trace their contacts. Hence an idea to collect information about suspicious people was propagated in the meeting. We are also formulating a strategy to flag down false alarms that would be generated through email service. But we need to be proactive,” said a senior administrative officer.
