Pune: The Legal Metrology Organisation’s (LMO) Pune division has taken action against 22 retailers in the city, as they were allegedly not selling masks and sanitisers in packed condition, while some packed material did not mention the manufacturer’s name and MRP. These items are high in demand due to the COVID-19 outbreak. In all, 10 such cases have been reported in the city.
LMO Pune Division Deputy Controller Seema Bais told Sakal Times, “We have taken action against 22 retailers in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. They were selling unpacked masks, sanitisers, hand washes and other sanitising material. However, some packed material without the manufacturer’s name and MRP was also found. Some items were manufactured outside the State, and we have also sent notices to them.”
The action was taken on Friday by a 10-member team. On Thursday, LMO released a statement requesting citizens to contact the office if they come across such instances of overpricing of these materials.
