PANAJI: The BJP-led state government is not prepared to handle the threat posed by Covid-19 (coronavirus) and prevent an outbreak of the virus in Goa, said opposition leader Digambar Kamat on Saturday. Former revenue minister and independent MLA Rohan Khaunte also chimed in and said that necessary preventive measures were delayed due to chief minister Pramod Sawant’s indecisiveness.

He was reacting after Sawant announced a slew of measures, including closure of schools and casinos, to prevent a potential outbreak of the virus in Goa.
“These preventive measures should have come much earlier when the issue of the Corona virus was raised in the assembly. The off-shore casinos are breeding grounds and should have been closed earlier,” said Khaunte.
