Lawyers oppose move to bring them under CPA

Kanpur: The advocates of the city on Friday while strongly opposing the proposal of the government to bring them under the ambit of the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) handed over a memorandum to the additional district magistrate (city. The protest was held under the banner of Adhivakta Kalyan Sangharsh Samiti.
Convener of the samiti, Ravindra Sharma, said the advocates are officials of courts and play a significant role in the judicial process.
He said the advocate fraternity would never accept the proposal. He has demanded immediate withdrawal of the proposed amendment in the Act.
Later, members of the Adhivakta Kalyan Samiti handed over a memorandum to ADM (city) Vivek Kumar.
The ADM city assured the advocates that their memorandum would be sent to the minister.
