Ford has been hard at work in reviving the iconic Bronco nameplate. The carmaker also gave us a glimpse of the Bronco’s design with the R Race prototype. And now, leaked images of the upcoming Bronco in three body styles: two-door, four door and crossover have surfaced on the internet ahead of its slated debut later this year. Each Bronco variant sports features that distinguish itself from the others.
The similarities between the three Broncos are the classic boxy design from the old Broncos, the Bronco lettering on the front and rear as well as a round headlight design that pays homage to the first generation Bronco. However, it gets a modern tweak in the form of an LED ring setup. The two-door and four-door variants head more towards a rugged design philosophy with thick tyres, wide fenders, a tall-boy stance and tow hooks on the front bumper. Interestingly, the hood on both models feature handlebars, which could indicate space for additional accessories.
The third model, also called the Bronco Sport, sports a less aggressive design, more akin to a crossover SUV. Its tyres also seem to be more like the daily driver kind of tyres. This is likely to be the Bronco variant based off the Ford Escape SUV. Nothing has been revealed regarding the Bronco’s interiors. However, we expect the Bronco Sport to share equipment with the Ford Escape. The more rugged two-door and four-door Bronco variants are likely to feature less premium kit than their less aggressive sibling.
Technical specs for the Bronco are yet to be known, but the carmaker has teased an EcoBoost motor that could be utilised in a different state of tune. Possible engine options include a 2.3-litre EcoBoost turbo-petrol motor from the Ford Ranger pickup range. The Escape-based Bronco Sport could share the 1.5-litre turbo three-cylinder petrol engine or 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder petrol engine.
Expect Ford to reveal the Bronco lineup later this year starting with the smaller Bronco Sport. The Bronco is unlikely to hit Indian shores but have a slim chance of being introduced as a CBU.
