Precious Metals: Gold, silver futures fall on weak global cues

Globally, gold was trading 0.17 per cent lower at $1,587.60 per ounce in New York.

New Delhi: Gold prices on Friday fell by Rs 353 to Rs 41,853 per 10 gram in futures trade as participants cut down their positions tracking a weak trend overseas.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold prices for April delivery fell by Rs 353, or 0.84 per cent, to Rs 41,853 per 10 gram in a business turnover of 4,338 lots.

The yellow metal for June delivery declined by Rs 432, or 1.01 per cent, to Rs 42,391 per 10 gram in 996 lots.

Analysts said subdued overseas cues influenced sentiments here.

Silver futures on Friday plunged Rs 1,155 to Rs 42,984 per kg as participants cut down their bets taking weak cues from overseas markets.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver contracts for May delivery tumbled by Rs 1,155, or 2.62 per cent, to Rs 42,984 per kg in a business turnover of 6,273 lots.

Besides, the white metal to be delivered in July fell by Rs 1,168, or 2.61 per cent, to Rs 43,502 per kg in 290 lots.

In the international market, silver prices traded 2.22 per cent lower at $15.65 an ounce in New York.
