Thiruvananthapuram: Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) will implement a series of measures with immediate effect to minimize the risk to the patients, staff and visitors to the hospital in the wake of
Covid-19 outbreak in the state.
The number of surgeries and procedures in the hospital shall be reduced till the end of the public health issue. The appointments for elective visits (non-emergency cases) shall be rescheduled.
The intimation of the new dates shall be sent to the registered mobile number of patients. These measures are essential to reduce the crowd in the hospital and to channelize the infection control mechanisms in the best possible manner.
Entry of visitors to the hospital (OPD as well as inpatient areas) will be restricted to one person per patient.
All visitors are requested not to bring children to the outpatient department or to the ward, unless they require treatment in the hospital.
All entry points to the hospital shall have thermal detectors to screen patients and visitors for fever.
Any visitor or bystander with symptoms of fever, cough, running nose, breathlessness or sore throat shall not visit the hospital in order to minimize the risk of transmission.
Any patient referred for treatment in SCTIMST from other hospitals should report any symptom mentioned above to the information centre near the entrance, immediately upon arrival.
There is a shortage of blood and blood products in the hospital. The hospital authorities have appealed to voluntary donors who do not have history of travel to Covid-19-affected areas and do not have contact with affected patients to donate blood to the hospital.
