Varanasi: Thunderstorm accompanied with strong wind claimed a life and damaged crops in different parts of
Bhadohi district on late Wednesday night. The district administration is estimating the loss due to the storm.
According to reports, a 35-year-old man Ravi Seth, posted at Aurai police station as follower, lost his life a branches of a tree fell on him during the storm. He was rushed to the Gopiganj community centre, where he was declared dead.
Meanwhile, power supply from Suriyawa sub-station was disrupted after a tree fell on a high tension wire near Bankat village. Several old houses collapsed in Gopiganj due to rain and storm.
The standing crops of wheat and pea were also damaged due to thunderstorm and rainfall. Bhadohi district magistrate Rajendra Prasad has confirmed a casualty and added that the loss due to the storm is being estimated for compensation.
