NOIDA: Most schools in the city have declared that March 13 will be the last working day before they reopen for the next session. However, the dates for the next academic session are yet to be announced.
Coronavirus outbreak live updates“We have a district fee regulation committee meeting on Friday and we will ask the administration about its plans for reopening the schools. Usually, the schools reopen in the first week of April (for the new session). But that seems unlikely this year,” said Yatendra Kasana, the president, All Noida School Parents Association.
Student attendance has been low in most schools for the past few days.
“Annual functions and gatherings of parents and teachers will be avoided,” Apeejay school authorities said.
Most schools have gone through at least one round of fumigation. “We have done done several rounds of cleaning. But still, we would prefer to space out report card collection process and parent-teacher interactions,” said Asha Prabhakar, principal, Bal Bharti Public School. Kasana said: “Schools buses, seats and washrooms are being sanitsed. No school has announced reopening date for the 2020-21 session. We will get to know about it after the meeting with the district magistrate on Friday.”
Get flu vaccines for kids: SchoolsSchools across the city have suggested that children be given flu vaccines and parents have been asked to share information in case they have travelled to or from China or other Southeast Asian countries in the past 15 days. Children have been asked to wear surgical masks and follow sneezing and coughing etiquette.
"We got our furniture and access areas sanitised. We are also planning to fumigate the campus," Renu Singh, principal, Amity International School, Noida, said.
A note from the principal of Apeejay School, Noida, said: "We inform parents that the school has taken sanitisation measures and the parents should follow prevention guidelines."
Pathways School, Noida, is sterilising all furniture, door handles, tables, doors and windows handles, along with toys.
On Tuesday, Shiram Milennium Schhol had announced it will stay shut for the rest of the week. Shiv Nadar School has said it will stay closed till March 10. On Wednesday, most schools reported low attendance.
