HUBBALLI: A day after 21-year-old Shabuddin Mahabubsab Bikkanabi was stabbed to
death, Kasabapet police on Thursday arrested two men in connection with the
murder. The victim’s father had filed a complaint alleging that his son had been killed over a trivial issue.
Kasabapet police have arrested Shamshuddin Savanur, 24, a resident of Sadarsofa and Zuberahemad Kalburgi, 24, a resident of Pathan Galli. The team that probed the murder was led by Shyamraj Sajjan.
Bikkanabi was reportedly stabbed 12 times in his stomach, chest, among other parts. The
crime, committed in daylight, had shocked the residents in and around Pathan Galli. Police said that Bikkanabi and the two suspects got into an argument over the former staring at them. The spat escalated into a fight, and Bikkanabi was killed, cops said.
Break-in and theft reported in Daivajnya Colony
Thieves broke into a home in Daivajnya Colony, and made away with cash, jewellery and other stray articles cumulatively worth Rs 5 lakh on Wednesday evening. The homeowner PB Channabasappa filed a complaint at the Vidyanagar police station
According to the complaint, thieves entered the house from a bedroom on the first floor of the house. Among other things, they looted gold and silver ornaments, cash, mobile phones and a camera. Police said that the thieves, intent on clearing all traces of their crime, had stolen the closed circuit television cameras, and the digital video recorders.
Man loses Rs 1 lakh to fraudster
A man, cheated of Rs 1 lakh by a fraudster, registered a complaint with cybercrime police on Thursday. The victim allegedly fell prey to the
fraudsters on Monday.
Police said that the victim had received a call from an unknown number with the speaker at the other end identifying himself as a representative of a nationalised bank, where the former had an account. The caller informed the victim that his account and debit card had been blocked. “The caller went to seek details of the victim’s card, including the CVV number. The victim even furnished the one-time password that he received on his cell. It was only when the caller hung up that the victim realised he had lost Rs 1 lakh,” a cop said.
