Urban Development Authority (Muda) has encountered another case of impersonation to gobble up a site from a beneficiary.
The incident has come to light after the owner of the site L Raje Urs knocked on the doors of Muda seeking khata. The site was allotted to him 26 years ago. Shock was in store for him as the property had exchanged several hands without his knowledge and now Muda is seeking police assistance to uncover the crime.
Meanwhile, Muda authorities are sceptical about the actual owner of the property as earlier too khata has been obtained using the photo of the complainant. Muda secretary
MK Savitha said, “Raje Urs, who has been allotted the site, has come after 26 years seeking khata but as per our records, the khata has been issued and the property has exchanged several hands since 2004. This has happened nearly twenty years ago. We are checking the details after filing a police complaint.”
The 30x40ft site in prime Vijayanagar location was registered in 2001 after allotment in 1994. First it was sold to Nataraj, by a person claiming himself as Raje Urs, and then after his demise, his children obtained khata and sold it to Shobha, who in turn sold it to Muddaiah and then Kannumuddaih, who is currently in possession of the property.
Raje Urs wanted the site to be registered in his daughter’s name and he went to Muda only to realise that the site has been misused. Since the site was vacant Raje Urs thought it was still in his possession.
This is not for the first time Muda is encountering a case of impersonation and cheating. This is just another case that has come to light.
