Surat:
Sanjay Solanki, Congress MLA from Bharuch’s Jambusar assembly constituency, allegedly received a threat call from an international number. The unidentified caller threatened the MLA on phone that his movements were being tracked and he will be killed anytime.
Sources said Solanki was returning to his house at Tankari village after attending a meeting in Jambusar on the night of March 9 when he received a call from an international number. The caller reportedly said, “I am following your movements. Wherever you go in the state, I will kill you.”
Solanki told TOI, “A few days ago, my family members had reprimanded a woman selling snacks outside the primary school for girls located in front of our house at Tankari village. She was throwing dirty water and leftovers outside the school and was asked by my family members not to do that. She started quarrelling with them over the issue and a complaint was given to police. I think someone is trying to take benefit out of the issue and issuing me threats over phone.”
BM Rathwa, police inspector of Jambusar, told TOI, “The MLA received the threat call from South Africa. However, the MLA doesn’t have recording of the caller. We have registered a complaint and trying to trace the number and identify the caller. There was some issue at the MLA’s village involving a lady who was throwing filth and dirty water outside the primary school in his village. But, it is difficult to link the issue with the threat call.”
