PCMC prepares to contain virus

PIMPRI: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has started preparations to contain the spread of coronavirus.

PCMC has created isolation wards at Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) Hospital in Pimpri, the civic hospital in Bhosari and at seven private hospitals. Only doctors, nurses and other assigned staff members are allowed to enter isolation wards. Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar has stated that all necessary steps have been taken as per the directions of the State government authorities.

The isolation ward at YCM Hospital has 10 beds, and two ventilators. Bhosari hospital’s isolation ward has 40 beds. Other private hospitals have 49 beds and seven ventilators. 

People who have arrived from foreign countries are being monitored by the staff for 14 days. So far they have monitored 31 such passengers and follow-up of 20 passengers for the requisite 14-day period has already been completed.

To prevent black-marketing of the products, the Legal Metrology Department has decided to keep a watch on prices of masks, sanitisers, handwashes and other sanitising materials. Deputy Controller of Legal Metrology Department, Pune Division Seema Bais has asked people to contact the Metrology Department in case they come across such instances of overpricing of these materials.
