CHANDIGARH: Five persons stabbed a 16-year-old boy over old rivalry at the vegetable market of
Dhanas on Thursday morning.
Injured Shakib, waiter in a private catering company, is from EWS flats in Dhanas, and two of the accused, Jaideep and Mamu, are also from this village. He was in critical condition when a patrol squad moved him to the Sector-16 Government Multispecialty Hospital (GMSH).
One of Shakib's friends, Bunty, has told the police that the attack came around 11.30am. The gang of five first thrashed Shakib in full public view and then thrust knives into his waist and back. As the passersby came to Shakib's rescue, the accused fled, leaving him in a pool of blood. Rescuers called 112. Later, the Sarangpur police recorded statements of injured Shakib and his brother and friends.
The cops said the attack was in retaliation to a few days old brawl.
