Coimbatore: The ministry of human resources development has sanctioned an amount of Rs2.9lakh for painting awareness paintings in government school walls in the district.
Of this, Rs1.98lakh is for elementary schools and Rs 92,400 is for secondary schools.
Under the project, ‘Media and Community Mobilization’, awareness paintings are being done on school walls every year. Similarly, this year, the state project office of the Samagra Shiksha has given a set of 10 pictures under themes such as hygiene, safety, gender equality and education among others to be painted in the walls of elementary, high and higher secondary schools.
The schools have been instructed to deploy professional artists to paint the pictures. “The pictures should be painted on walls where the public can see it clearly. Professional artists should be employed to paint the pictures using enamel or oil paint. The images, colours and captions should be strictly followed as it is given in the samples,” said a communication.
A Samagra Shiksha official from the district said they would select 25 schools in the district for the project. “We have been sending the funds to the schools. We have asked the school HMs to finish the painting work through the school management and development committees. They have been asked to complete the work within March 31,” the official said.
The pictures given by the Samagra Shiksha include those on public and personal hygiene, motivation for differently abled students, career motivation, girl safety and gender equality.
