Museum, zoo and tourist spots shut down

Thiruvananthapuram: The city switched to shutdown mode with events being postponed and temporary closure of tourist spots in the wake of Covid-19 alert. Public entry will be blocked to museum and zoo following a directive issued by district collector K Gopalakrishnan to close down museum and zoo till March 31.
The authorities said that no restrictions will be imposed on joggers who come to museum premises in the morning and evening, however, there has been a significant dip in the number of people turning up for morning walk. The sitting scheduled by district police complaint authority for March 21 and 28 has been postponed. Planetarium will also be shut down till March 31.
Prayer and public preaching timings at Vazhuthacaud juma masjid will be revised from 12.45pm to 1.10pm starting from Friday.
APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University has postponed the Tech Fest 2020, scheduled to be held from March 27 to 29 at College of Engineering, Trivandrum. The new date will be informed later, said a statement from the university.
Following state government order on restriction on public gathering Queerythm LGBTIQ community cancelled its future monthly meeting until further notice. Community members, volunteers and allies are strictly restricted to gather and meeting public places on behalf of Queerythm and are also advised to avoid Queerythm representations in events.
Indus Cycling Embassy, a collective of cyclists based in the city, has cancelled all its night ride for next two weeks till March 31.
Tourist entry won’t be allowed at Peppara and Aruvikkara dams, Siva park and water treatment plants till March 31.
