RAJKOT: A sordid case of a married woman subjected to unimaginable brutality and sexual assault has come to light in Kutch after police arrested her tormentor on Tuesday.
The arrested person Mansukh Koli (30) not only raped her repeatedly, but also brutalized her by branding her private parts. He did not stop at this. Koli filmed the entire act of rape and branding on his mobile and started using the video to extract money from her.
“In the last six months, Koli blackmailed her into giving Rs 1.5 lakh including her ornaments. He raped the woman in her father’s farm in a village of Rapar taluka,” said KG Zala, deputy superintendent of police, Rapar.
Koli threatened to upload the video on social media. Even as she constantly pleaded with him to let her go and wailed, Koli remained unmoved and even thrashed her.
“The woman was tortured for nearly six months. We had formed five teams to track down Koli after the video somehow started circulating on Whatsapp and social media,” Zala added.
The police teams also tracked down the woman and convinced her to lodge a complaint against Koli.
“Once the complaint was lodged, we launched a manhunt for Koli. Meanwhile, Koli went absconding after learning about the police action against him. We tracked him down in the Little Rann of Kutch after he switched on his cellphone to send a message,” said Zala.
In her complaint, the woman alleged that Koli had raped her at knife point and had shot a video of the act while she was working in her father’s farm six months ago.
He had raped her several times in the past six months. Koli is married and has two children, police said.
