COIMBATORE: The state’s minority
welfare department has been sanctioned Rs 5 crore to repair and renovate churches that function out of their own buildings. The district administration has called on the churches in its jurisdiction that are more than 10 years old to approach them for the financial assistance for repair and
renovation.
A communication from the district administration said the churches have to be functioning from own buildings for more than 10 years to be eligible for the aid. The site on which the church stands should be registered and so should be the church. “It also should not have received any foreign funding for repair and renovation works earlier,” the communication said.
On applying for the assistance, a team that is constituted by the district collector would visit the church to study the building plan and project cost and based on merit recommend the same to the directorate of minority welfare. “The funds will be given in two instalments,” it said.
Those who wish to get the assistance should download the forms from http://www.bcmbcmw.tn.gov.in/ and submit the same at the backward classes and minority welfare department at the district collectorate, the communication said.
