KANPUR: A 52-year-old man died while five others fell ill after consuming poisonous herbs purchased from a man in Saandh area of Ghatampur on Wednesday.
The police identified the deceased as Sharan Singh of Chirli village of Ghatampur. He became critically ill on Wednesday after consuming herbs purchased from a man identified as Baba Manoj Kumar. He died on way to hospital,” said SP West Anil Kumar. The SP said, “Five others who fell ill had also consumed herbs after purchasing from Manoj Kumar. They are undergoing treatment at separate hospitals. We have detained Manoj and his attendant Jai Prakash and are questioning them. Investigations are continuing.”
