MYSURU: The food and civil supplies department has cancelled over 16,978
BPL cards after verifying the eligibility of
beneficiaries in the district in the last one year.
At the KDP review meeting held on Wednesday, joint director
M Shivanna said that the department will file a criminal complaint if ineligible beneficiaries do not return the BPL cards by the end of this month.
He said some government employees too have obtained BPL cards. The department will intensify verification, he added.

K Jyothi directed the officials to disburse social security pension to beneficiaries on time every month as a lot of complaints have been received regarding delay in receiving pension. Over 3.8 lakh people are drawing pension under various social security pension schemes across the district.
The CEO directed all boards and corporations to complete the process of identification of beneficiaries for distribution of loan and other government benefits to complete the task within stipulated time. She took to task district midday meal officers for supplying milk to students from expired packets.
She instructed women and child welfare officer Padma to ensure nutritious food to pregnant women and anganwadi children. "In cases where pregnant woman are unwilling to come to anganwadi centres, the staff must ensure that the nutritious food packets are directly to their homes," she said.
Joint director of agriculture Mahantheshappa informed about the procurement of 1.2 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from 8,152 paddy growers and 2,723 quintals of ragi from 13,07 of farmers in the procurement centres opened across the district in the previous season.
