This McLaren Elva Celebrates Bruce McLaren’s Iconic M1A From 1964

McLaren only intends on producing 399 examples of the Elva speedster and has taken to Twitter to show what the supercar looks like in an historic racing livery.

For those that don’t know, the new McLaren Elva takes its name from the McLaren-Elva M1A previously raced by none other than Bruce McLaren. The carbon fiber, white, and red livery of the new Elva depicted mimics that of the original that smashed the lap record during the 1964 Canadian Sports Car Grand Prix no less than seven times.

The livery of the modern-day Elva sports dark carbon fiber across most of its exterior to mimic the black paint of the original. There is also white across the front fascia, side skirts, and engine cover, as well as a host of red accents. Completing the look are large number ‘4’ graphics. Inside, you will notice a pair of two-tone black and red seats.

Like other McLaren models, those who order an Elva will have the opportunity to spec it out to their individual preferences, meaning a livery like the one presented is unlikely to be produced unless a customer actually commissions this livery.

Powering the car is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine with 804 hp and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. McLaren says the speedster will be good for 62 mph (100 km/h) in less than 3 seconds and hit 124 mph (200 km/h) in 6.7 seconds. Prices start at $1,690,000
