Vadodara: An electronic appliances trader from Jarod village in Waghodiya taluka was beaten to death by his allegedly drunk neighbour on Tuesday night over some unknown reasons.
Adi Pathak came in an inebriated state outside 47-year-old Vijay Rana’s house around 10 pm on Tuesday and started abusing him and his younger brother Rajesh. On hearing Pathak shout, the two brothers came out of their house. Seeing the duo, Pathak damaged the plants outside the house. Rajesh told police that when they asked Pathak to behave, he continued abusing them.
Police said that the two brothers had arguments with Pathak and they shoved him away. As Vijay held Pathak’s hand, he punched him several times on his chest due to which Vijay let him loose and complained of severe pain.
Rajesh took his brother to a doctor in their village. But even after taking medicine when his pain did not subside, Vijay was taken to a nursing home at Ajwa Road in Vadodara. The doctor told Rajesh, that his brother’s health was critical and suggested him to take him to a cardiac hospital. The family members rushed him to a private cardiac hospital in Warasia. The doctors there declared him dead on admission. Rajesh then informed Waghodiya police about the incident and a murder case was registered against Pathak in the wee hours of Wednesday.
Cops went to arrest Pathak at his home in the middle of the night, but he had fled by then. “We have lodged murder case based on the preliminary reports and are searching for the accused. The exact reason for his death will be known once the post-mortem report will arrive,” said a police official. He added that Pathak manages his father’s medical clinic at Jarod.
