coronavirus (Covid-19) at Jaipur airport, an 85-year-old person, returned from Dubai on February 28, has tested positive for Covid-19, third such case reported in the state, since first such case reported on March 3. Coronavirus outbreak live updates There was a major lapse in attending the patient by three private hospitals as he kept running from one private hospital to other. The hospitals allegedly refused him treatment. Finally, he reached Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital on the intervening night of March 8 and March 9, where doctors admitted him in isolation hospital. He reached SMS Hospital at 3 am.
The patient had been suffering from symptoms of coronavirus for past few days. He went to his family doctor on March 2 where he was provided with the treatment. But, he did not get relief from the treatment. After couple of days, he visited a private hospital where doctors conducted MRI and other tests, but his ordeal did not end there. He went to his family doctor on March 8 again. Since his condition was deteriorating, his family doctors advised him to go to private hospital for treatment. On the same day, he was rushed to three different private hospitals, but all of them allegedly denied him treatment, a health department official said.
Since he kept moving from one hospital to other since March 2, there is a chance of others getting infected with the virus. The health department has launched an intensive drive in the state to find out those who came in direct contact with him.
Moreover, a search has been launched to locate his copassengers travelled in the same flight in which he travelled from Dubai to Jaipur. “They are being tracked. They flew to Jaipur on February 28, almost 11 days ago,” said a senior health department official. The health authorities are in touch with the airlines for getting the details of the passengers for conducting the screening for Covid-19.
However, the doctors have kept his wife in isolation ward, who travelled along with him on February 28, in the same flight. Also, his son reached Jaipur two days after his parents’ arrival. His son has also been admitted to isolation ward. The health department claimed that they do not have any symptoms of Covid-19 but they are kept under observation.
Besides, his family doctor has also been kept in isolation ward who provided him treatment on March 2 and March 8. Activities have been conducted for disinfecting his clinic. His clinic has been sealed for at least 14 days. The SMS hospital doctors said that they have started his treatment. “He is already suffering from chronic kidney failure. His creatinine level is above normal. He is suffering from diabetes and hypertension,” said a doctor.
