The reports of nearly 36 patients, who have been quarantined at Naidu hospital, are awaited. The five infected individuals, including the Pune couple, their daughter and co-traveller, are stable. The first contacts of the infected Pune couple are being monitored closely, Pune divisional commissioner Deepak Mhaisekar said on Wednesday.
At a press meet attended by Mhaisekar, district collector Naval Kishore Ram, commissioner of police K Venkateshan and among others, the authorities urged citizens to stay calm and not fall for rumours.
“There is no reason for alarm and efforts are being taken to prevent the spread of the infection,” Mhaisekar said. He has directed all the collectors in the division to spread awareness through various platforms against the disease.
Chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, via video-conferencing on Wednesday, told the divisional commissioner to take action in coordination with the district magistrate and the health department among others. Deputy CM Ajit Pawar was also part of the interaction.
