Kolkata metro: Suicide bid foiled

KOLKATA: An alert RPF staff of Kolkata Metro foiled a suicide bid at Kalighat metro station on Thursday afternoon.
According to metro railway sources, at about 12:20pm, a male commuter informed the on-duty RPF staff at Kalighat Metro station that his friend, a lady aged around 19 years, was going to commit suicide and sought his help to save her.
The on-duty RPF staff immediately rushed to the spot and stopped her from committing suicide. He then took her to station master’s office and she was counselled there. Her family members were also informed.
Considering the situation, the Kalighat Police Station was also informed about the incident. Later, at about 1:20pm, police arrived and took them to Kalighat Police Station. The girl was let off after another round of counselling.
