Ludhiana: After a few days of sunny weather, residents had to grapple with cold conditions after a drizzle in the city on Wednesday. The bad news for residents on weather front is that Met department has predicted wet weather for the next two days.
As it was cloudy since morning and it drizzled intermittently throughout the day, the chill returned to Ludhiana on Wednesday. The city witnessed 2mm of rainfall from 8.30am to 5.30pm on Wednesday. The impact of the cloudy weather and drizzle reflected on the maximum temperature on Wednesday and it was recorded at 20.1 degrees Celsius which is seven degrees less than normal. On Tuesday, the day temperature in Ludhiana was recorded at 23.9 degrees Celsius, which was three degrees less than normal. Even the minimum temperature on Wednesday was recorded on lower side at 10.1 degrees Celsius, which is a 1.2 degrees more than a day before.
“Light to moderate rainfall is expected in the city for the next two days and the same may be recorded between 40mm-50mm or even more than that. During these days the day temperature may fall whereas the night temperature is expected to remain stable. However after March 14, weather is likely to remain dry and the day temperature may increase whereas the night temperature can fall a bit,” said director, Met department, Chandigarh, Surender Paul.
Meanwhile the department website suggests that the day temperature is expected to fall to 20 degrees till Saturday whereas the night temperature may fall to 10 degrees till the same day.
Meanwhile residents are battling the cold weather prevailing in the city.
“Since the start of March, sun is playing hide and seek with us as it has been raining frequently and then it becomes sunny. Yesterday weather was sunny and warm and now again it drizzle in the city. Because of cold we have to unpack our warm clothes to keep ourselves warm. Also after packing the heating appliances we had to unpack those to ensure warm conditions inside rooms,” said Manohar Singh, a trade from Pakhowal road.
