PROVIDENCE — Mayor Jorge Elorza has issued a state of emergency for the city of Providence because of coronavirus.

As a result, all city events scheduled during the next two weeks, as well as all nonessential meetings, will be canceled. All entertainment licenses will be revoked.

Additionally, all other license holders are restricted from serving or gathering more than 100 people at a time.
