Congress to change party leader in Pune Municipal Corporation

PUNE: Maharashtra State Congress Committee has initiated a procedure to change the party leader in PMC. Committee had sent an observer to take the opinion of former and sitting members, MLAs and MLCs of Pune city and other senior leaders. Accordingly, the observer submitted a report on Wednesday.

Pune city Congress President Ramesh Bagwe said, “ Observer submitted a report to Maharashtra State Congress Committee. Now, the committee will take the final decision to change the party leader in PMC and declare the new name.”

Congress corporator Arvind Shinde has been the party leader in PMC for the past eight years. There are a total of 164 corporators in PMC. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has the majority in PMC with 99 corporators. Congress is in the fourth position with nine corporators.
