Gujarat: Medals with 'DGP's Commendation Disc' to be awarded to police personnel

AHMEDABAD: For the first time in Gujarat, medals recognized as "DGP's Commendation Disc '' will be awarded to police officers from the rank of IPS officers to police constables for their extraordinary services.
A total of 110 police officers of all cadres from the cities, districts, ATS, Coastal Security, CID-IB, CID Crime and Railways, Armed Units, Technical Services and SCRB, Training and STV will be awarded by "DGP’s Commendation Disc" for the current year on or before March 23, 2020.
The committee formed as per the notification would finalise the eligible police officers who would be awarded "DGPs Commendation Disc" for the first time by the director general and head of the police force, Shivanand Jha.
Six other states in India and paramilitary forces award such "DGPs Commendation Disc" with an intention to boost up the morale of the police force and encourage them to perform better. Gujarat will be the seventh state to receive such award.
