Goa: Calangute police arrest 3 women for forcing kids to beg

PANAJI: Calangute police on Thursday arrested three women for allegedly forcing children into begging.
Following a complaint by Calangute sarpanch Francis Rodrigues about the menace of child begging in the area, the had conducted a rain late on Wednesday during which they found four children begging at the behest of three women.
The children were rescued and were sent to Apna Ghar in Merces.
"The three women, who were carrying the children are booked under Section 8 (2) of the Goa Children Act and Section 76 of the Juvenile Justice Act 2015," Calangute PI Nolasco Raposo said.
The three women have been remanded to five days police custody, he added.
