Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan today informed the Lok Sabha about various steps taken by the government on containing the spread of Corona Virus. Minister while participating in the discussion on the issue, said that initially passengers coming from abroad were screened at 7 major airports in the country, and today they are being screened at 30 airports and all the passengers are screened in detail.
During the discussion, the Members have expressed concerns of stranded pilgrims, students, labourers and migrants to various countries suffering Coronavirus outbreak.
Earlier, yesterday, World Health Organization declared the COVID-19 outbreak as a Pandemic. Briefing newspersons in geneva, WHO DG, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that he is alarmed by the spread and severity of the outbreak.
A disease is called pandemic when it is prevalent across the continents. global health experts say that declaring a pandemic is charged with major political and economic ramifications. The last pandemic was declared by WHO during the outbreak of H1N1 influenza in 2009.
