FALL RIVER — Classes and events are being temporarily canceled at two local schools Friday and all weekend due to worries over the COVID-19 pandemic.

The official Twitter account of Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School tweeted Thursday evening: "Diman will be closed for precautionary cleaning and scrubbing of the entire school. All school-based activities and events are cancelled through this weekend. This is a preventative measure to keep our school community safe."

Argosy Collegiate Charter School Executive Director Kristen Pavao issued a release Thursday night stating that classes would also be canceled Friday.

"Given that we are closed on Monday, we want to take advantage of a four day opportunity to do a deep clean of all surfaces on both campuses. Therefore, school is closed to scholars and staff tomorrow. We will communicate any news and updates accordingly so please keep your eyes on your emails and text messages."

Argosy Principal Anthony Branco also announced on Twitter that all after-school activities are canceled until further notice.
