Vadodara: M S University has started groundwork for the forthcoming third cycle of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) which is due in 2021-22.
The varsity was rated grade ‘A’ by NAAC in 2016. NAAC is an autonomous body funded by the University Grants Commission that assesses and accredits all higher education institutions in the country.
As part of preparations, university’s faculty of family and community sciences (FFCS) and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organized a workshop on Saturday titled ‘NAAC 2021-data analysis’ in which all teaching and non-teaching staff were involved.
The workshop aims to consolidate data of all the seven NAAC criteria and to check for any discrepancies. MSU vice-chancellor Prof Parimal Vyas emphasized on the seriousness of the workshop requesting attendance of all members.
He asked teachers to have at least two publications in a year in recognized journals while urging heads and senior teachers to guide the younger staff members.
“SCOPUS list of journals must be available with each teacher. We need to nurture a research culture,” he said, adding that the university needs to work six months in advance unlike the past where NAAC assessment remained overdue for 18 months.
Vyas further urged each teacher to be responsible for supplying relevant data.
“It is not just the responsibility of the IQAC or annual report team,” he added.
