The recently unveiled 2020 Hyundai i20 is expected to launch in India by mid-2020. It will feature styling updates similar to the international-spec model and is expected to come with a new interior. Sources have now confirmed the i20’s engine options ahead of its India launch.
The India-spec 2020 Hyundai i20 will be offered with two BS6-compliant engines: a 1.0-litre T-GDI turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre CRDI diesel unit. The turbo-petrol engine could develop 120PS and 172Nm while the diesel engine could develop 100PS. We expect Hyundai to offer the petrol motor with a 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT while the diesel engine could be offered with a manual option only.
The recently updated BS6-compliant 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine could also be found under the hood of the 2020 i20. This engine develops 83PS of power, 113Nm of torque and is offered only with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The Indian 2020 Hyundai i20, which has been spotted testing, looks largely similar to the international-spec model. You can have a closer look at the i20 in detailed spy shots right here. Inside, we expect it to come with a large floating touchscreen infotainment system just like the international-spec model.
In terms of features, we expect the 2020 i20 could come with BlueLink connected car technology, a sunroof, a touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, climate control, a premium sound system and a wireless charging pad. Expected safety features include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and a rear view camera.
The 2020 Hyundai i20 is expected to be priced above the current model, which starts from Rs 6.50 lakh (ex-showroom). It will lock horns with the Tata Altroz, Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Honda Jazz.
